January Box of Blessings
January’s Box of Blessings was so fun to put together!  I did my best to match accessories that could be worn with each other.  Now, I’m not the most stylish person. . . . so if you received a box and was like, ‘What was she thinking!?’, I apologize!!  But regardless of my ability to match, I hope that each receiver enjoys wearing these and showing them off.

Although I had included a scarf in October’s box, I just had to include another one, especially since Box of Blessings is growing and I didn’t want new subscribers to miss out!  These scarves are made by Gladys Males, who lives in Otavalo, Ecuador.  Gladys and her husband, Roberto have 2 children. She works with a few family members as well as other employees in the community at the workshop in her home.  This acrylic, soft scarf uses the crinkle look to give it more of a trendy appearance.

These fun, beach bracelets are handmade using acai seeds and dyed seashell chips. They are a great accessory to brighten any outfit. Perfect for stacking too!  They are designed by the Manotupa family in Peru, whose business began in 1978.

Fair Trade Peru Woven Earrings Fair Trade Peru Woven EarringsThe earrings were colorful too! They are designed by Sanyork Fair Trade. This group of 66 artisans live in & around Lima, Peru. Sanyork is dedicated to helping create a sustainable economy that preserves culture and stops exploitation. Their goal is to reduce and overcome poverty. These earrings are made by delicately weaving thread around twisted alpaca silver wire.  A very tedious job with steady hands required!

I had the opportunity in January to visit the workshop that is run by Sanyork. It was so exciting to be able to meet the office managers and hear more about how Sanyork is making a difference in the lives of artisans and their community.

January’s Box of Blessings donated 10% to Compassion International’s Unsponsored Children’s Fund.  Compassion’s website states that “Compassion International exists as a Christian child advocacy ministry that releases children from spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty and enables them to become responsible, fulfilled Christian adults.” This organization supports more than 1.5 million children in 26 countries.

But there are 600 MILLION children living in EXTREME poverty.  And that is why this fund is so important. Donations care for children that are waiting for a sponsor. If you are interested in making a HUGE difference in the life of a child, click here!  For less than $30 a month, you have the power to transform a life that has the potential to transform many more.
