Most Christians go to Church at least once in awhile.  But most are not active.  Why is this? And when would you be active?  Life is already so crazy and busy, how do we have time for the Church?  Here are 9 ways to be involved at Church. Several do not require more than an hour a week of your time.  And the benefits are HUGE, plus you may even find yourself wanting todo more!

1. Go to Church on Sunday!

This is, of course, an obvious way to be involved. But, never doubt that your presence makes a difference.  It will also make a difference in your life.  By showing up every Sunday, you are starting your week off well, worshiping God.  Let the worries of the week go for that hour or so, and be present.  Listen for that scripture, song, or word that touches your heart, that is directed at you.

2. Help with childcare

This service may be available on Sunday mornings during Church, or Wednesday’s during Bible Study, or other Church events that childcare is provided at.  Those mom’s or dad’s that really need a chance to take a breather and focus on themselves for a little while, will really appreciate you!  And kids are fun.  There are so many ways to play, let the kid inside of you let go and start imagining!

3.  Volunteer with the Youth Group

Most Churches have some sort of a youth program.  Talk to the Youth Leaders about helping out sometime, or what they need.  Being a Youth Leader myself, I know from experience how nice this is.  Just knowing that someone else cares about what you are doing, means even more than the help that may be provided.  And if there isn’t a youth program, I’m sure there are youth in the Church. Organize an event or outing for the youth to connect and have fun.  This is the next generation, who better to help show them the way than YOU!

4. Participate in a Bible Study

Here’s a great way to not only immerse yourself in scripture, but to meet new people within the Church.  Be sure to prepare for the next meeting and to share your thoughts.  The best way to have a successful study is to actively participate!

5. Sing in the Choir

Have a natural singing voice, or maybe have always wanted to.  Don’t doubt yourself! Join the Choir, and if you can’t sing, try learning an instrument.

6. Be a Greeter

Want an easy, but amazing way to serve? This is it.  As a greeter, all you gotta do is smile and say hi and maybe hand out the bulletin.  But the potential impact you may have is great!

7. Start a conversation with someone

If you are just slightly extroverted, this may be just for you.  The best way to get to know someone, is to take the first plunge by introducing yourself.  Then see what you have in common. Who knows, your next conversation, just might be with your new best friend!

8. Join the Book Club

Or the Garden Club, or the Exercise Club, whatever Club that interests you!  And if there isn’t a Club that interests you, start one.  This is the perfect way to get to know new people.  By having a similar interest or activity, conversations will happen automatically.

9. Serve on the Mission Team

What a great way to make a difference in your local community.  Have you seen needs that are not being met? Brainstorm ways to help and organize an event or project.  Or just sign up to help at something already happening.

The Church needs YOU, will you do one of these 9 things this week?
