The Yo-Yo has been around for over 2500 years and is considered the second oldest toy in the world!
Bet you are wondering why I am telling you about the Yo-Yo?
Today is National Yo-Yo Day!
And I believe that we can change the world by playing with yo-yo’s. Hmmm. . . and how would that be?
Here are 4 ways that you can make a difference with this old time favorite.
1. Rummage around in your toy bins for a YoYo and show your kids (or kid near you) the cool and fun tricks you can do (or maybe use to be able to do!). Then teach them how. The Yo-Yo is a great way to interact with kids!
2. Purchase a bunch of yo-yo’s and donate them to a boys and girls club or a low income day care.
3. Buy several plain wooden yo-yo’s, then take them to a Children’s hospital and help sick kids decorate their own and then play with their new toy.
4. Get a bunch of kids together and have a yo-yo competition (after a few practice rounds of course!).
And don’t forget to share the following Yo-Yo trivia!
- The world’s largest Yo-Yo weighs 256 lbs.
- In 1985, a Yo-Yo went to space on the shuttle Discovery.
- The most expensive Yo-Yo was bought for $16,029! (signed by Richard Nixon)

I love the idea of finding your old yo yo s and giving them to a child who may enjoy it.
I know that I was terrible at yoyoing.
Those are some great ideas for yoyos. I never would have thought about doing that with yoyos.
