July is National Hot Dog Month
In 2013, approx. $2.5 BILLION was spent on hot dogs in U.S. grocery stores!
Los Angeles, New York, and Atlanta were the top hot dog consuming cities!
Americans eat 150 MILLION hot dogs just on the 4th of July!
Why does that matter? Well, it just shows how popular hot dogs are in America AND provides a huge opportunity to make a difference. I know that probably sounds funny, but be creative with me for a minute and lets list a handful of ways that we can use hot dogs to change the world.
1. Organize a dinner for homeless or poor families. Serve hot dogs and sides.
2. Hold a hot dog drive, then donate them to a food pantry.
3. Grill hot dogs at the park and invite families to eat and mingle in order to make new friends.
4. Raise money by hosting a hot dog competition with the most creative, tastiest, prettiest, and other topping awards.
5. Light a bonfire and gather the community for an evening of food, fellowship, and games.
I know those are some pretty simple ideas, but its so easy to think making a difference or changing the world is too complicated to do. But really all it takes is a willing heart and a simple idea or in this instance a cheap, popular food. Just bringing people together can change lives. Maybe someone is lonely and needs friends. Maybe a single mom is encouraged. Maybe a child would have gone hungry.
