If you could save a child’s life? Would you?
There are over 963 million people going hungry right now. This is unacceptable! Especially when there is more than enough food. What’s worse? 3 million children under the age of 5 die every year due to lack of nutrition.
425 million children do not have access to clean water. Some of the water sources that I have seen during my travels consisted of garbage floating rampant, sewage leaking in, etc. I can’t help, but grimace as I remember. . . Someone once asked me “Why do American’s flush clean drinking water?” I had never thought of toliet water in that way, but its true, the water we flush is SO much cleaner than most of the third world’s drinking water. YUCK!!
130 million 15-24 years old are illiterate. Did you complain about going to school? Have you ever thought about where you would be if you hadn’t had the opportunity to go to school? It’s so easy to take the things that we do everyday for granted. But we should appreciate the ability to read, to write, and even the ability to do fractions!
Only 33% of the world’s population are Christians. Of that remaining 67%, almost 3 billion people are unreached. How often do you take your faith and having a Bible for granted? I struggle with this a lot. Life gets busy, and somehow I manage to not make time for the most important relationship in my life. Then I consider the billions of people who do not have access to a Church or a Bible. And worse those who are physically and emotionally PERSECUTED for their faith.
Why does this affect me?
So, What can you do?
There is hope! There is possibility! It does NOT have to be this way.
Today, YOU can save a child’s life.
I’m in! Show me the way.
There are children waiting. . . What are you waiting for?
Please share you experience and a little about your child in the comments below!
