Adventures in Missions is an organization that is truly changing lives for Christ around the world. Here is an excerpt from their About page.

“Adventures in Missions is an interdenominational missions organization that focuses on discipleship. We emphasize prayer and relationships in our work amongst the poor.

Since we were established in 1989, we have taken over 100,000 people into the mission field, some for as short as a week and others for as long as a year or longer. In several places around the world we minister year-round to “the least of these”. We believe that by giving people the opportunity to hold orphans, bring hope to the hopeless, and pray for the sick, lives are transformed.

We seek to disciple as Jesus did; our vision is that God would use us to raise up a generation of radically committed disciples of Jesus Christ.”

Meet Irene Hackett.

Irene HackettI feel like I’ve been missing it. The big picture. The world I thought I was once living in, is so out of reach from the world I now know. I always knew there was something more. You hear stories. Stories of children starving to death on the streets. You see the commercials. Commercials of the immense poverty. And It touches our heart for a brief second. Often times our heart breaks in that swift moment, but we often carry on with our lives.

 Completely the same.

But when you are face to face with this reality for everyday people, like you and I, it takes a completely different toll. This is reality for millions, and millions of people. I’m sitting on a dirty sidewalk holding these starving street kids. They have dirty, tattered clothes, lice, and have a displeasing smell. But that doesn’t bother me. They’re children of God, and I can’t but help squeeze them with huge hugs.”

The World Race

An 11 month journey for 21-35 year olds.  Explore the world, while living out of a backpack.  Travel to at least 11 countries living like Jesus did, and relying on God to fulfill your needs.  Live with the locals. Expect brokenness.  Not only will YOU change the WORLD for Christ, YOU WILL BE CHANGED!!!

Meet Annie Heathorn

“Hey you! You’re a Christian – can you lead the Bible study today?

ME?!

I glanced around

the table at the aged, wrinkled faces of homeless men looking at me expectantly. Every morning there is an optional Bible study at the homeless shelter we help at. It’s normally led by a pastor, but I guess today he couldn’t make it.  Still wanting to hear a message, the men looked to me simply because I happened to be sitting at that table. Most of them were Buddhist so I was surprised by their eagerness to hear a story from the Bible.

Uhhh sure, I’ll lead…”
