We finally arrived at our ministry site Saturday morning, Mt. Moriah Christian Camp in Pal-ing, Malaybalay City on the Mindanao Island! After getting to the airport at 3am that morning, we stood in line for an hour or longer, before security finally let us jump in the express lane since our plane was boarding. We had tried to communicate this need, but they kept telling us not to worry. Then we were rushed very quickly through the airport because we were “delaying” the plane. At the security point, they made several people take out cans of food that we had brought for the children’s home. But we just dumped and ran because of the rush. Then while sitting on the plane waiting for takeoff, security people came over asking for a bag to put all our food cans in so that we could take them. It was like the devil was trying to prevent us from doing God’s work yet God was in complete control and the security people were puppets in His hands!

From sarahdiederich.theworldrace.orgFrom sarahdiederich.theworldrace.orgThe rest of the flight was uneventful.   Then after about 2 hours of driving, we arrived at the camp. Although we had had little sleep, we wasted little time getting started in the work. The work involved shoveling and moving wet concrete in rubber buckets that were then pulled onto the top of a building. This left most of us exhausted and ready for sleep, but first we were taken to a family buffet style meal of BBQ chicken and of course rice.

Sunday began with team prayer time, breakfast of bananas, peanut butter, fried eggs, and bread, then church. Afterwards we visited the local monastery and then went to a swimming area that is created by a spring. It began to rain shortly after jumping in. We ended up getting out and discovered that there were at least 15-20 kids watching us and laughing. So we began to run around chasing them in the pouring rain and soon began a game of tag, ring around the rosy, and duck duck goose!! It rained so hard that the grass area we were in was flooded as were the stairs leading to the swimming area. This unexpected event created an afternoon of out of control laughter and fun.
